(WAUKEGAN) A north suburban man has been charged with reproducing child pornography.

Bernard H. Wewers, 19, of Beach Park, faces three counts of reproduction of child pornography, all Class X felonies, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s office.

Wewers was arrested Thursday after officers executed a search warrant at his home in the 10200 Block of West Bairstow Avenue in Beach Park, police said. He had become the target of an investigation by the sheriff’s Cybercrimes Unit.

A forensic examination of Wewers’ electronic media revealed he not only possessed “numerous” images and videos of child pornography, but had been reproducing child porn files, police said.

He is being held at the Lake County Jail on a $300,000 bond, police said. He is next scheduled to appear in court Sept. 12.
