$5M bond for man charged with fatal stabbing of Joliet woman

(JOLIET) A parolee charged with stabbing a southwest suburban woman to death in the laundry room of a Joliet apartment complex Wednesday morning has been ordered held on a $5 million bond.

Drumaine McKinley, 35, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 20-year-old Joslyn M. Woods, authorities said.

Woods was discovered with multiple stab wounds in the first-floor laundry room of Evergreen Terrace Apartments in the 300 block of Broadway Street at 8:15 a.m., Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton said.

The Joliet resident was pronounced dead at 12 p.m., according to the Will County coroner’s office.

Benton said neither Woods nor McKinley lived in the apartment building and it appears they met up there. Their relationship has not yet been determined.

McKinley was arrested in the 1400 block of Washington in Joliet after detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed security tape, Benton said. A motive for the attack is not yet known and the investigation is ongoing.

At the time of his arrest, McKinley was on parole from a weapons conviction, according to the Illinois Dept. of Corrections. He previously served prison time on multiple drug and weapons convictions.

On Thursday, McKinley was ordered held at the Will County Jail on $5 million bond, according to the Will County Sheriff’s office. He is next scheduled to appear in court Sept. 25.
