SHARE Kurt Elling headlines new Chicago awards event

Kurt Elling will be among the entertainers at the first Fifth Star Awards being held in Millennium Park Sept. 17.

Grammy winning jazz singer Kurt Elling, plus Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and The Second City improv performers will be entertaining the crowd at the inaugural Fifth Star Awards, taking place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the free show at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park is part of the presentation ceremony honoring famed choreographer and Hubbard Street Chicago founder Lou Conte, renowned sculptor Richard Hunt, Grammy-winning jazz virtuoso Ramsey Lewis, former longtime Chicago Cultural Affairs commissioner Lois Weisberg and the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, currently celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
