(WOOD DALE) A man died last week after he fell off his bicycle in northwest suburban Wood Dale.

Robert Lonergan, 54, was found at Irving Park Road and Salt Creek in Wood Dale about 7:40 p.m. last Tuesday, according to Wood Dale police Deputy Chief Mike Rivas and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Rivas said no one witnessed Lonergan fall, but his injuries were not consistent with the bike being struck by a vehicle.

Lonergan, of the 300 block of North Addison Road in Wood Dale, was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where he was pronounced dead at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found Lonergan died of head injuries from falling off a bicycle and his death was ruled an accident.
