SHARE Boeing gets $3.6 billion order for 14 Dreamliners

Boeing Co. and Air Europa announced Thursday a $3.6 billion order for 14 Dreamliner jets.

Chicago-based Boeing said the order for 787-9 aircraft is the company’s largest-ever widebody order from a Spanish airline. The deal was finalized in December.

“We have always looked for the best quality and comfort for our passengers and the Boeing 787 meets our needs because it is faster, quieter and more comfortable as well as being more efficient and more respectful to the environment,” Juan Jose Hidalgo, president of Globalia, the parent company of Air Europa, said in a news release.

Boeing’s latest office is a building inside a building [Fast Co. Design]

Air Europa has a total of 22 Dreamliners on order, with the first expected to arrive om 2016. The airline eventually will have an all-Boeing fleet.

The airline serves more than 40 destinations in Europe and the Americas.
