Take your self-defense skills to a new level with an introduction to Krav Maga.

Pow! NMA & Fitness will hold a workshop, Defending the Family, on Saturday (Jan. 24).

Krav Maga began as a self-defense technique used by the Israeli military. Many in law enforcement take it, but everyday folks do, too. One of the things that sets it apart from other self-defense training is its focus on the real-life situations that people encounter. Krav Maga, by the way, means “contact combat” in Hebrew, which tells you the training takes self-defense very seriously.

And POW! is a good place to learn about Krav Maga. It’s been offering the training since 2002.

The 90-minute workshop begins at 2 p.m at POW! NMA & Fitness, 950 W. Washington. It’s $40 for two people. To register, call (312) 829-7699.
