Steven M. Bastean, 29, is charged with indecent solicitation of a child and driving while license revoked, both felonies, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.
He allegedly contacted a 14-year-old boy on a mobile social networking app and requested to meet with him to engage in sexual acts about noon Monday, according to police.
The “teen” was actually a detective with the sheriff’s office, and Bastean was instead met by police.
Bastean, of the 1200 block of Canopy Drive in Round Lake, is being held in the Lake County Jail on a $100,000 bond, according to the statement. He is next scheduled to appear in court Jan. 23.
