South Elgin woman guilty of providing heroin that killed woman

A northwest suburban woman faces at least six years in prison for supplying the heroin that caused the 2013 overdose death of a 24-year-old woman.

A jury on Wednesday convicted Andrea R. Nielsen, 25, of drug-induced homicide, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.

Nielsen was contacted by Abbey Nordmeyer about 9:40 p.m. on April 4, 2103, to purchase heroin, a statement from prosecutors said.

Nielsen and 22-year-old Nicholas C. Allen drove to Chicago, bought the heroin, then drove back to Nordmeyer’s home in South Elgin, where all three used the drug and fell asleep, prosecutors said.

Nordmeyer was dead when Nielsen and Allen woke up about 11 a.m. the next day, prosecutors said. An autopsy found the 24-year-old died of a heroin overdose.

Allen, of the 300 block of North River Street in South Elgin, agreed to an eight-year prison sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to drug-induced homicide.

Nielsen, of the 900 block of Mark Street in South Elgin, is scheduled for sentencing March 11. She faces a minimum of six years and a maximum of 30 years in prison, prosecutors said. She remains in the Kane County jail, where a $150,000 bond was revoked on conviction.
