Man shot in car on West Side

A man was shot while sitting in a car Friday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 21-year-old was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked white sedan about 10:15 p.m. in the 4000 block of W. West End when he heard shots and felt pain, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left leg, police said. His condition had stabilized.

The two men were shot Saturday in the 7100 block of South Peoria Street, police said.
The man, who apparently took his own life inside the building in the 4100 block of West Chicago Avenue had been the subject of more than 40 calls for service since January 2022, a police department source told the Sun-Times.
