A south suburban man died after being shot in the chest Monday night in Robbins.

Mychal McDonald, 35, was in a vehicle in a parking lot at Francisco Avenue and Claire Boulevard in Robbins about 10:45 p.m. when two men approached and one of them opened fire, according to the Cook County sheriff’s and medical examiner’s offices.

After being shot, McDonald took off in the vehicle but ended up crashing nearby, according to the sheriff’s office.

McDonald, of the 12500 block of South Fairview Avenue in Blue Island, was taken to MetroSouth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:01 p.m., according to the sheriff’s and medical examiner’s offices.

An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the chest and his death was ruled a homicide.
