Ramp closures for pavement repairs go into effect overnight beginning Wednesday between the Stevenson Expressway and Lake Shore Drive.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Wednesday, the ramp from northbound Lake Shore Drive to the southbound Stevenson will be closed until 5 a.m. Thursday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. The ramp will also be closed from 11:59 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday.

During the closures, a detour route will direct traffic to the northbound LSD exit at 18th Street to southbound Lake Shore to the southbound Stevenson.

Between 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, until 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, the ramp from southbound Lake Shore Drive to the southbound Stevenson will be closed. A detour route will direct traffic to the southbound LSD exit at 31st Street to northbound Lake Shore to the southbound Stevenson.

The closures are necessary for pavement repairs, part of the ongoing interchange construction project, according to IDOT. Drivers should expect delays and allow extra time for trips through the area.
