A South Side man has been charged with shooting an 11-year-old girl over the summer in the Gresham neighborhood.

Cordero Harris, 27, faces felony counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated assault for the attack that happened about 11 a.m. Aug. 17, according to Chicago Police.

The girl was walking with a man in the 8700 block of South Sangamon when someone fired shots from a passing vehicle, striking her in the arm. Police said she wasn’t the intended target.

She was taken to a hospital, where her condition was stabilized, police said.

Harris, of the 8600 block of South Morgan, was arrested Monday and ordered held without bond by Judge Peggy Chiampas, according to Cook County Circuit Court records. He is due back in court Monday.
