Mike Murphymade Halloween special by arrowing a big buck, which should be one of the biggest eight-pointers bagged in Illinois this year.

He shot it with his Diamond bow at 25 yards in Lawrence County about 5:50 p.m.

It should be the third year in a row where Murphy has a buck qualify for the record

book of the Pope and Young Club, which keeps bowhunting records among other

conservation activities.

“He’s on a roll,’’ proud dad Ken Murphy texted. “Pretty impressive for a 21-year-old.’’

BOTW, the celebration of good stories and big bucks bagged around Chicago outdoors, appears Wednesdays on the Sun-Times outdoors page when apt.
