A 23-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park on the West Side Friday night.

About 10:50 p.m., the man was on the sidewalk in the 3200 block of West Madison Street trying to break up a fight between two people when another male approached and shot him in his right arm, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.
