Taj Gibson was sidelined by an ankle injury when the Bulls took on the L.A. Clippers at the United Center on Sunday.

It was the 10th game Gibson has missed this season, the ninth due to ankle problems. Gibson played only nine minutes after injuring the ankle in the Bulls’ 96-89 win over Minnesota on Friday.

Asked if Gibson might miss more than Sunday’s game, coach Tom Thibodeau said, “It’s day to day. We’ll see how it unfolds.’’

Pau Gasol, who’s battling an illness, was able to play against the Clippers.

Aaron Brooks was in the starting lineup with Gasol, Jimmy Butler, Mike Dunleavy and Joakim Noah.

The Clippers had won 11 of their 13 previous games at the United Center before Sunday.

The Bulls won the only previous meeting this season, beating the Clippers in L.A. 109-89 on Nov. 17.
