Charges are pending Friday afternoon against a man who shot himself in the groin and leg in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The 18-year-old suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the groin and leg about 12:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Kedzie, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said. He has since been taken into police custody, and charges are pending.
