A parolee was arrested Tuesday night after police found a loaded handgun and prescription drugs in the vehicle he was driving in west suburban Aurora, according to authorities.

Jesus Villegas Jr., 25, was pulled over about 10:40 p.m. at North and River streets, according to a statement from Aurora police.

A search of the vehicle yielded a loaded handgun and more than 25 Xanax pills, police said. Villegas is on parole for residential burglary.

Villegas, of the 600 block of Manhattan Circle in Oswego, is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, use of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

The Illinois Department of Corrections issued a no-bond warrant for the parole violations, police said.
