A 30-year-old man was shot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side early Monday.

He was standing on a sidewalk about 2 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Oakley when he heard shots and realized he had been struck in the left wrist and thigh, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The man, who police said has documented gang ties, took himself to Saint Bernard Hospital and his condition was stabilized.
