AP goes Oops! Confuses rocker Fred Durst for alleged killer

SHARE AP goes Oops! Confuses rocker Fred Durst for alleged killer

Besides a last name, accused murderer and real estate heir Robert Durst and rocker Fred Durst have nothing in common.

Unfortunately, the Associated Press goofed Monday when the news agency mistakenly reported the subject of the HBO crime series “The Jinx” was the “former Limp Bizkit frontman,” who, of course is Fred Durst.

Actually, that was another boo-boo. Fred is not the former frontman — he’s still rockin’ out with Limp Bizkit to this day.

Needless to say, the mistakes led to a flurry of social media criticism until the AP issued a correction Tuesday morning, though it still put Fred’s musical career in the past: “The Associated Press reported erroneously that Robert Durst is a member of a band. He is a real estate heir; Fred Durst is the former frontman of Limp Bizkit.”
