Odds of Ted Cruz winning White House sit at 33-to-1

If you’re a risk-taking gambler and a fan of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, now might be the time to put some cash on Cruz to run the table and win the White House in 2016.

While he opened the first major campaign of the 2016 presidential season on Monday, Cruz is a longshot with gamblers.

Popular online gambling site Bovada has Cruz at 33-to-1, the same as Vice President Joe Biden, who has been non-committal about a run. Cruz also is tied with Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson, who recently stirred up some controversy by saying homosexuality is a choice and prison sex proves it.

The odds for Cruz are what you’d expect for a someone who trails in a crowded Republican field. A recent CNN/ORC International survey that had Cruz getting support from 4 percent of Republicans and independents who lean Republican. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush had the lead with 16 percent, followed by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 13 percent.

Hillary Clinton is the overwhelming favorite on Bovada’s board at 13-to-10, while Bush is at 4-to-1.

Of the people who have actually expressed an interest in running, Bovada gives Donald Trump the worst odds at 150-to-1.

If you thought the potential 2016 presidential field was crowded now, it’s even worse when you look at the number of candidates you can place wagers on. Ninety, to be exact, when scanning dozens of online gambling sites.

While Clinton and Bush are the overwhelming favorites across the board, you can make some completely absurd bets.

For example:

• Kim Kardashian, 1000-to-1 at PaddyPower (FYI, John Dingell).

• George Clooney, 100-to-1 at William Hill.
• First Lady Michelle Obama, 150-to-1 at Betfair.
• Mitt Romney is on multiple boards, including 50-to-1 at Sporting Bet. Just in case he changes his mind.
• Somehow Arnold Schwarzenegger (150-to-1) has better odds than Charlie Sheen (500-to-1) at PaddyPower.
