Marian Central tops Hampshire

Marian Central’s hitters started Tuesday’s softball game against Hampshire with three consecutive strikeouts against senior pitcher Haley Widmayer in a quick top of the first inning.

After whiffing once more in the second, the Hurricanes finally started to see results.

“We’ve kind of been the underdogs the last couple of years,” Marian Central coach Erin Widmayer (no relation to the pitcher) said. “We don’t like to get down. We come back and we battle; that’s our word.”
