The White Sox announced three roster moves Wednesday before facing Kansas City in a Cactus League game.

The White Sox optioned catcher Rob Brantly to Triple-A Charlotte and reassigned infielder Juan Diaz and outfielder Courtney Hawkins to minor-league camp.

With the moves the White Sox have 41 players remaining in major-league camp: 25 pitchers, three catchers, eight infielders and five outfielders.

Hawkins was one of the pleasant surprises for the White Sox this spring.

“I don’t think there’s anybody in our camp that has had the strides and improvement that Courtney has,” manager Robin Ventura said last week.

Hawkins appeared in 18 spring games and batted .412 with a .428 on-base percentage and .853 slugging percentage. He hit four homers (one walkoff) and three doubles and drove in 10 runs.
