A northwest suburban woman broke into a church, then tried to pry open the safe and filing cabinets, but got away with nothing except criminal charges, according to police.

On Dec. 19, 2014, Woodstock police were notified that someone has “made forcible entry into the Woodstock Bible Church” and “attempted to pry open a safe and numerous filing cabinets,” a statement from police said.

Evidence from the scene pointed detectives to 35-year-old Jessica R. Madsen of Woodstock, who was named a suspect, found and and voluntarily went to the police station, “where she was interviewed about her involvement with the reported burglary,” police said.

On Tuesday, she was charged with one count each of burglary to a place of worship and criminal damage to property over $300, both felonies, police said.

Madsen, of the 100 block of First Street in Woodstock, is being held in the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility on an $85,000 bond, police said.
