A woman was shot early Wednesday in the Avalon Park neighborhood on the South Side.
The woman, thought to be in her 30s, was shot about 3:55 a.m. near 86th and Stony Island, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said, citing preliminary information.
She was shot in the leg and taken to Jackson Park Hospital, although her condition was not immediately known, Alfaro said.
