SHARE Black Ensemble Theater’s ‘Powerful Woman’ to feature top women: Schakowsky, Preckwinkle, Mitchell on board

Black Ensemble Theater’s founder and executive director Jackie Taylor has assembled quite the high-profile group of important Chicago women to star in “The Soul of a Powerful Woman,” a one-night-only benefit event Taylor has written. The fundraiser is part of the theater’s “Powerful Woman Campaign” and will take place on Saturday, March 21.

Following a pre-performance reception at 7 p.m., the show will feature a cast that includes U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Urban League President Andrea Zopp, Women’s Business Development Center founder Hedy Ratner, state Sen. Mattie Hunter, business executive Natalie Spears, broadcasting veteran Melody Spann Cooper and Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell. The performance will also feature members of Black Ensemble Theater’s regular company of actors.
