Teen shot in car in Ashburn

A teenage boy was shot in a vehicle Sunday night in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 15-year-old boy was the passenger in a light-colored SUV heading northbound in the 7900 block of South Kostner about 9 p.m. when a male standing on the corner opened fire, police said.

The boy was shot in the right leg and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized.

Police said the boy is a documented gang member.
