White Sox 3, Diamondbacks 3: Micah Johnson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the White Sox tied the Diamondbacks in a Cactus League game Monday at Camelback Ranch.

Johnson’s opposite field home run was his second hit of the day and third of spring training.

The Diamondbacks had taken the lead an inning earlier when Danny Worth drove in a run on a single off reliever Zach Duke.

It was the second straight appearance in which Duke has given up at least one run.

The White Sox scored two runs to tie the game in the seventh. Trayce Thompson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Juan Diaz hit a solo home run in the next at-bat.

Jose Quintana gave up one run in his second Cactus League start of the season. He gave up three hits in two innings of work and had three strikeouts.

“I feel pretty good,” Quintana said. “I want to throw a couple pitches in different situations, more (from the) stretch. First time feels a little bit weird in the stretch. But I made adjustments and threw the ball pretty good.”

Robertson sees first action: New White Sox closer David Robertson saw his first Cactus League action Monday.

Robertson threw one inning and allowed one hit. He also had one strikeout.

“Obviously I would have wanted to throw nine pitches, three strikeouts, but that didn’t happen,” Robertson said. “It was a tough outing. I had to throw a few pitches to get myself under control and make some quality pitches there. But all in all, it was a zero on the board. I’ll take that.”

On deck: Tyler Danish will make his first Cactus League start Tuesday against the Royals in Surprise.

Jeremy Guthrie will get the start for Kansas City. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CT.

Danish pitched one inning in the Cactus League opener against the Dodgers, allowing one run on a hit and two walks.

“I haven’t seen too much of him,” Ventura said of Danish. “You just try to see these young guys and put them in situations where you’re extending them a little bit. (I’m) hearing a lot of great things about him so you want to be able to see it for yourself. Last time he was a little erratic and he has a lot more control than that. So you give him that second time out.”
