Authorities say a knife-wielding 21-year-old man robbed a northwest suburban motel of $1,200 on Saturday in Crystal Lake.

About 4:45 p.m., Trent James Keegan walked into the Super 8 at 577 Crystal Point Drive, jumped over the front counter and brandished a knife while demanding the cash from the motel clerk, according to a statement from Crystal Lake police.

Keegan then ran away, police said. The clerk was not hurt.

Detectives used video surveillance footage to identify Keegan, who was arrested later that night at his home in the 1400 block of Skyridge Drive in Crystal Lake.

A McHenry County judge ordered Keegan held on a $250,000 bond, police said. He is next due in court on Wednesday.
