One man was killed and another man was seriously injured in a Humboldt Park neighborhood shooting Friday night on the West Side.

The men were in a car in the 1100 block of North Springfield about 10:50 p.m., when someone walked up and fired shots in their direction, police said. The shooter then ran away.

Courtney Jackson, 36, of the 1400 block of North Lotus, was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center at 1:21 a.m. Saturday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The other man, 35, was shot in the neck and is listed in serious condition at the same hospital, police said.

Both men showed up at the hospital after the shooting.
