Boy, 16, shot in Austin

A 16-year-old boy was shot Friday night in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The boy was standing in the 4900 block of West Ohio at 10:10 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots in his direction, striking him in the buttocks, police said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A source said the victim is a documented gang member.
