A southwest suburban doctor stalked the attorney who was representing his wife in their divorce, going so far as to desecrate the grave of the man’s daughter, according to police.

Dr. Robert A. Bonzani, 49, of Mokena is charged with stalking, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and theft, according to the Will County state’s attorney’s office. Bonzani is a doctor of urology practicing in the area.

According to the state’s attorney’s office, Bonzani began stalking the attorney who was representing his wife in divorce proceedings.

Bonzani spray-painted and damaged the tombstone of the attorney’s daughter on Dec. 23; then later stole photographs and an artificial tree from the gravesite, according to prosecutors.

He also sent the attorney and his wife letters referencing their deceased daughter, knowing it would cause them emotional distress, according to prosecutors.

Bonzani posted $10,000 in cash as bail and was released.
