Man charged with Wood Dale burglary

A 25-year-old man has been charged with a series of burglaries in northwest suburban Wood Dale, and charges are pending against two others.

Adam Blair was taken into custody about 4 p.m. April 17 after he barricaded himself in his home in the 400 block of North Maple Avenue, according to a statement from Wood Dale police.

Officers had been investigating a rash of residential burglaries and were alerted to an ongoing incident early Friday morning, police said. Police had been investigating three potential suspects in the string of break-ins, and two were taken into custody.

Police learned that the third suspect was staying at the Maple Street home, and was thought to have a gun that had been taken in one of the burglaries, police said.

Police went to the home and made “numerous attempts to contact the burglary suspect to bring about his peaceful surrender. The suspect refused all contact and the DuPage Felony Investigative Assistance Team sent a SWAT unit to assist in the situation,” police said.

Blair was charged with one felony count of residential burglary, police said. Charges are pending against two other suspects.
