Man, 53, shot in Austin

A 53-year-old man was shot while walking in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side Wednesday afternoon.

About 3:50 p.m., the man was walking in the 1500 block of North Lawler when a black vehicle drove past and someone inside opened fire, police said.

The man was shot in the thigh, police said. His condition was not immediately known.

It was not clear whether the man was the intended target of the shooting, police said.
