SHARE Police warn of Northwest Side robberies

Police are warning women on the Northwest Side about a recent string of robberies in the Wicker Park, West Town and Humboldt Park neighborhoods.

In three incidents, a lone female was approached on the street, knocked to the ground and robbed of her purse or cellphone, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The robberies occurred:

  • at 10:30 p.m. April 11 in the 1300 block of North Hoyne;
  • at 6:10 p.m. April 15 in the 1700 block of North Kimball; and
  • at 8 p.m. April 20 in the 2500 block of West Wabansia.

The robber is described as a black man in his mid-20s, standing between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds, police said.
