Two men were killed and at least eight other people wounded in shootings across the South Side on Thursday.

The most recent homicide happened about 8:30 p.m. in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

About 8:30 p.m., a man was shot in the 100 bock of East 69th Street, in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

A 36-year-old man was standing in the street in the 100 block of East 69th Street when at least one person walked up and shot him in the back, police said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His name was withheld early Friday.

A few minutes after 2 a.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood, another 36-year-old man was fatally shot.

Charles Gray got into an argument with someone in the 2100 block of West 71st Place and the other person pulled a gun and fired several shots, authorities said. The shooter got into a white car, which sped away.

Gray, who lived on the same block as the shooting, was shot several times and taken to Stroger, where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m., authorities said.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened in the 4800 block of South Winchester in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

At 11:50 p.m., a 21-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk when two other people walked up and shot him in the left hip, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

About 10:40 p.m., a man was shot in the head and wrist in the South Chicago neighborhood, police said.

The 23-year-old was sitting in the front passenger’s seat of a sedan when a white SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said.

At 2:15 p.m., a man was shot in the 6600 block of South Justine in West Englewood.

The man was shot in the leg and taken in good condition to Stroger. Police said the shooting may have been a drive-by.

An 18-year-old man was shot 15 minutes earlier in the Pullman neighborhood.

The man was sitting outside in the 11300 block of South Corliss when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. He was shot in the ankle and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition.

At 6:20 a.m. in the South Shore neighborhood, officers found a 24-year-old man unresponsive on the ground in the 7100 block of South Cyril with a gunshot wound to his face. He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern.

An hour and a half earlier, two men were shot in Englewood.

They were in a vehicle in the 6600 block of South Union a few minutes before 4 a.m. when an SUV pulled alongside and someone inside fired shots, police said.

A 31-year-old man was shot in the lower back and a 35-year-old man was shot in the chest, police said. Both were taken to Stroger, where their conditions had stabilized.

The day’s first nonfatal shooting happened at 2:30 a.m. in the Kenwood neighborhood.

A 24-year-old was shot in the side in the 4600 block of South Lake Park, police said. He was taken to Northwestern, where his condition stabilized.
