A 12-year-old girl was killed Monday morning in a semi-truck rollover crash in the northwest suburbs.

Authorities responded just after 5 a.m. and found the truck rolled on its side near Route 20 and Reinking Road in Pingree Grove, a statement from Pingree Grove police said.

Dahabrielle A. Turner of South Bend, Ind., was a passenger in the semi while her father drove, police said. She was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma, according to the Kane County coroner’s office.

Turner’s father, also of South Bend, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin, police said. His condition was not known.

No other vehicles were involved. It appeared the truck had damaged “several” utility poles and a guardrail, police said.

The intersection was closed for several hours., police said.

The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating. Anyone with information should call Pingree Grove police at (847) 464-4600.
