Dahabrielle A. Turner of South Bend, Ind., was a passenger in the semi while her father drove, police said. She was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma, according to the Kane County coroner’s office.

Turner’s father, also of South Bend, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin, police said. His condition was not known.

No other vehicles were involved. It appeared the truck had damaged “several” utility poles and a guardrail, police said.
