An 8-year-old boy was accidentally shot while he and another child were playing with a gun Tuesday morning in a home in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The boy was shot inside his home in the 3700 block of West 13th Street about 10:45 a.m., police said.

Two children, both age 8, were playing with the gun when it accidentally discharged one time, striking the child in the abdomen, according to a police source.

A family member brought the boy to the emergency room at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is listed in good condition, police said.

The family member initially told police the boy was shot while playing outside, but evidence led police to suspect the shooting happened inside the home, according to police.
