A 26-year-old man was shot to death in the South Side Gresham neighborhood late Friday, police said.

About 10:10 p.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 7900 block of South Aberdeen found him lying on a sidewalk with gunshot wounds to the chest, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

He was dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
