A 20-year-old man died after being shot multiple times Thursday night in northwest suburban Elgin.

Officers responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive at 9:15 p.m. and found the man at Fleetwood and McLean Boulevard, according to a statement from Elgin police.

Devonte Turner of Elgin was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where he was pronounced dead at 11:52 p.m., according to the Kane County coroner’s office.

An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and toxicology samples have been sent to a forensic lab, the coroner’s office said.

The police Gang Crimes Unit and Major Investigations Division are investigating.
