A car became engulfed in flames after crashing into a barrier on Interstate 355 in the west suburbs early Sunday.
About 1:30 a.m., a car heading southbound on I-355 near Butterfield Road crashed into a concrete barrier and caught on fire, Illinois State Police said.
The Lisle-Woodridge Fire District responded and found the car fully involved with flames, Battallion Chief Patrick Reynolds told a reporter at the scene. The fire was extinguished shortly after, he said.
The male driving the car was out before crews arrived and was not injured, authorities said. He was not issued any citations or charges.
No one else was injured. Lanes had been reopened as of 3:50 a.m.
