Two armed robberies were reported in the Rogers Park and West Ridge neighborhoods last Wednesday with one involving three Loyola University students on the school’s campus.

The robberies occurred within minutes of each other, according to an alert issued by Area North detectives. The first occurred about 3:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Sheridan and the second occurred five minutes later in the 2100 block of West Pratt.

According to Loyola Campus Security, three Loyola students were walking on Sheridan between Kenmore and Winthrop when two men — one armed with a silver handgun — walked up and demanded their valuables. The students complied and the two men ran west on Sheridan toward Broadway.

Police said the men took their wallets and phones.

In the robbery on Pratt, the two men stole their victim’s property and vehicle, police said.

Both men were described as black and between 25 and 30 years old. They both stand between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9 and weigh between 140 and 180 pounds, police said. Both have a medium build and wore a dark jacket or hooded sweatshirt with cargo pants and a baseball cap.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
