A woman was found slain Sunday in a vehicle in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Officers found the 38-year-old in the vehicle in the 5200 block of West Thomas after they responded about 10:40 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

She has since been identified as Frankie Smith of the 1100 block of North LeClaire Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy Monday found she died of multiple blunt-force injuries and ruled her death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
