$1.5M bond for North Side man charged with stabbing mother to death

A North Side man charged with fatally stabbing his mother during a domestic dispute last week in the West Ridge neighborhood has been ordered held on $1.5 million bond.

Jerome Jackson, 24, is charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the May 5 stabbing death of his mother, 53-year-old Jerren Jackson, according to Chicago Police.

About 4:20 p.m., Jerren Jackson was stabbed to death in the 6200 block of North Bell, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She and her son both lived on the same block.

She was pronounced dead at the scene less than an hour later, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy the next day ruled her death a homicide.

On Monday, Cook County Circuit Judge Donald Panarese Jr. ordered Jerome Jackson held on a $1.5 million bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court May 26.
