A motorcyclist was critically hurt Wednesday evening in a crash on an expressway ramp southwest suburban Countryside.

The man crashed about 7:30 p.m. while driving on the ramp from the northbound Stevenson Expressway (I-55) to the northbound Tri-State Tollway (I-294), Illinois State Police said.

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in “critical but stable condition,” State Police said.

The ramp remains shut down as of 9:30 p.m., police said. Authorities could not yet say how the crash happened, but no other vehicles were involved.
