Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta had an impressive outing in the 6-1 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday.

Arrieta gave up just one run while striking out 10 over the course of eight innings. Arrieta’s performance prompted Cubs pitcher Jon Lester to call the second-year Cub the ace of the rotation.

The 29-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to three against the Mets after two-consecutive losses to the Brewers and Cardinals.

After the 10-strikeout game, Arrieta still got hassled on Twitter for striking out four times at the plate.

The Cubs will go for the three-game sweep against the Mets on Wednesday, which would be the first of the season.
