A body was found inside a garbage bin Thursday afternoon in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The body of a male was discovered about 4 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Avers, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed a body was found at that location but did not release additional details Thursday evening.

A death investigation is underway, police said.
