A north suburban Woodstock man has been charged with sexually assaulting a young family member.

Andres Gamez, 33, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault of a family member under 18 and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under 5 years old, according to the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

Authorities were notified by the Child Advocacy Center, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and Hannah-Beardsley Middle School in Crystal Lake that allegations had been made regarding sexual contact with a minor, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. Sheriff’s police began an investigation that led to Gamez’s arrest.

Gamez, of the 8100 block of Castleberry Drive in Woodstock, is being held at the McHenry County Jail on a $10,000 bond, the sheriff’s office said. His next court date is scheduled for Monday morning.
