A man and two 17-year-old boys have been charged with a Wednesday night carjacking that resulted in a crash in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Jawanza Brown and the two teens approached a 32-year-old man entering his 2002 Chevrolet Malibu at 11:08 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Clybourn, police said. They implied they had a weapon, took the car and drove off.

Officers spotted the car a short time later and began a traffic pursuit that ended when the Malibu hit a restaurant sign in the 1900 block of West Fullerton, police said.

No injuries were reported in the crash or the carjacking.

Brown, 21, and one of the teens were charged with one count each of felony vehicular hijacking, police said.

The other 17-year-old was charged with vehicular hijacking and attempted robbery.

Brown, of the 1600 block of Warren, is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday.
