An Oak Forest man was ordered held on a $500,000 bond Friday, charged with downloading child pornography to his cellphone.

Jason Chapman, 41, was arrested Thursday and charged with one felony count of possession of child pornography, according to a statement from the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

The investigation started after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security learned that Chapman used his phone to receive files containing child pornography, prosecutors claim.

He gave consent to search his cellphone last October, and a forensic analysis found Chapman used the KIK messenger application to download the images and videos, prosecutors said.

Authorities found photos and videos of children under the age of 13 on the device, prosecutors said.

Chapman, of Oak Forest, was ordered held on a $500,000 bond Friday at the Bridgeview courthouse, the state’s attorney’s office said. He will next appear in court June 11.
