Police: Man with mental illness missing from Austin

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man suffering from mental illness missing from the West Side Austin neighborhood since Friday morning.

Tarik Allen, 27, was last seen 11 a.m. Friday and has been known to frequent Austin Avenue between Lake and Harrison streets, according to a high risk missing person alert from Chicago Police.

Allen suffers from mental illness and left a note threatening to harm himself, police said.

He is described as a 185-pound, 5-foot-10 black man with brown eyes, black hair and a light complexion, police said. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants and may be carrying an acoustic guitar with numerous signatures in black marker.
